STD. REMOTE CONTROL OVERVIEW
Vessels without EVC or DTS
electronic controls use a single
lever remote control similar to
the illustration.
To help visualize the operating
principals we have used a
clock mode. The lever in
the straight-up or 12 o’clock
(neutral) position uses a detent
push button (see illustration)
which allows advancing the
throttle for neutral or starting
the engine without engaging
the gearshift. This feature is
useful when trying to start a cold engine.
Pushing
the throttle lever forward from the neutral 12 o’clock position
to the 11 o’clock position will engage forward gear with minimum
throttle. From the 11 o’clock position to the 9 o’clock position the
vessel is in forward gear with forward throttle selections.
Pulling
the throttle back from the neutral 12 o’clock position to the 1
o’clock position will engage reverse gear with minimum throttle. From
the 1 o’clock position to the 3 o’clock position the vessel is in reverse
gear with reverse throttle selections.
As you shift from neutral to forward or reverse positions,
push up on the
neutral interlock button
located under the gearshift knob. This will allow
the control to shift into the desired gear.
Neutral Safety Switch
The remote control features a neutral safety switch which ensures the
stern drive and control handle are in the detented neutral position for
starting the engine.
