A 2698A Digital (DAB+) Bluetooth FM Tuner
®
10
DAB Radio Mode:
DAB radio mode receives DAB+ digital radio signals
and displays information about the station and
program track being broadcast.
The first time you use the A2698A tuner, or if the
station list is empty, the radio will automatically
perform a full scan to capture the available DAB+
stations in that area. You may also need to start a
scan manually to update the station list for one or
more of the following reasons:
•
New stations become available from time to time.
•
Similarly, some stations that were operating for a
time cease to broadcast. (Invalid stations are
indicated by a ‘?’ in front of their name.)
•
If reception was inadequate in the original scan,
some stations may have been missed and the
station list would be incomplete.
•
If the reception is poor, you may want to list only
those stations that have a strong signal.
Once a full scan is completed the radio returns to
playing the previously tuned station, or the first
station on the updated station list.
The functions available under the MENU – which
include Full Scan and Prune – are described under
the section headed MENU.
Selecting Stations:
DAB Stations are normally listed in alphabetical order
in the list. The exception to this ordering is the
placement of the secondary stations, which are
normally parked in the list alongside the primary
station with which they are associated. Any station
that has associated secondary services has a’>>’.
Any secondary stations are indicated by the
presence of a ‘>>’ .
DAB+ DLS Information that is available by pressing
INFO:
•
DLS - Dynamic Label Segment is information
which may be transmitted by the station including:
song title and artist, program information, news,
sport and weather information, contact details
(web, phone etc.).
•
Signal Strength - this is useful when trying to
determine the best position for the unit and its
antenna. The slightly larger rectangle segment of
the signal bar indicates the audio quality
threshold. If the signal is not on or above this
rectangle, then the station reception is likely to be
poor or subject to disruption in the form of drop
outs.
•
Program Type - describes the primary format or
genre of a station i.e. Jazz, Rock, Talk, Classical
etc. If it is not present, the screen will display ‘No
PTY’.
•
Ensemble name: This tells you from which
transmitter the signal comes. This is helpful for
manual tuning of DAB+ stations.
•
Channel and Frequency: Essential for manual
tuning
•
Signal Error – Shown as a bar with the error
number.
•
Transfer Rate and varies between 22 and 128
kbps. It is displayed on screen as a number
measured in kbps e.g. 64 kbps DAB+ (the digital
decoding mode = DAB or DAB+).
•
Time: Displayed as 12 hour or 24 hour format
(default setting).
•
Date: Displayed as Day:Month:Year (default
setting).
