INSTALLATION USING SCREWS

This method of installation is particularly suitable for wood panels and furniture components, and

requires a free space in depth of at least 70 mm (2.75”) with respect to the surface holding the front plate
of the speaker.

1. Drill a hole of diameter 155 mm (6.10”) in the support structure (e.g. wood panel) at the point chosen for

installation.

2. Remove the round front plate from the speaker using a small screwdriver to pry between the plate and

the speaker (Fig. 4, page 32).

3. Run the connection wires through the hole drilled and connect the speaker as described in the section

below.

4. Insert the speaker in the hole drilled and use the three holes on the circular flange to attach it to the sup-

port structure (see Fig. 4). Be sure to use suitable attachment elements for the material of the sup-
port
(e.g. screws for glass, screw anchors for masonry structures, etc.).

5. Re-fit the front plate, making sure that the four hooks of the plate are seated securely in the correspon-

ding slots on the speaker.

The A1383 plastic base (cod. 133.20.058) is available on request, which can be used for surface instal-

lation on the wall or in the ceiling. To view the complete updated range of accessories available, please see
your RCF retailer.

5. CONNECTIONS

WARNING

• For connecting the speaker, use only qualified and experienced personnel having suffi-
cient technical knowledge or specific instructions for making the connections correctly and thus
preventing any electrical dangers.

• To prevent the risk of electrical shock, do not make the connections with the amplifier switched on.
• Before powering up the speaker, re-check that all the connections have been made correctly to

ensure that there are no accidental short circuits which could give rise to dangerous electrical sparks.

• The entire sound system must be designed and installed in compliance with the current standards

and regulations regarding electrical systems.

The connections to be made differ according to the speaker model. In general, to ensure correct audio

reproduction the connection should be made "in phase", where the +/- poles of the amplifier output cor-
respond to the +/- poles of the speaker input.

A CLOSER LOOK

When two speakers reproduce the same frequencies but with differences in phase, there is

a possibility that these frequencies will be annulled. In sound systems it often happens that

speakers are situated in adjacent positions and the sound waves produced interact. If a speaker is situated
incorrectly, or the polarity of the audio line conductors is inverted, the audio signals are diffused with phase
differences, thus jeopardizing correct reproduction.

CONNECTING DS 313 - DS 313/1N

The DS 313 - DS 313/1N speaker is designed for connection with constant impedance audio lines (e.g. 4

) by means of the and terminals of the loudspeaker.

1. Connect the speaker terminal marked with to the positive conductor (+) of the audio line.
2.  Connect the speaker terminal marked with to the negative conductor (-) of the audio line.

The audio line conductors can be soldered directly to the loudspeaker terminals, or they can be con-

nected using FASTON connectors, in which case a female FASTON connector of 2.8 x 0.8 mm (0.11” x
0.031”)
is connected to the terminal, and a female FASTON connector of 4.8 x 0.8 mm (0.19” x 0.031”)
is connected to the terminal.

If the electro-acoustic system requires the use of multiple speakers, they can be connected in series

(Fig. 5, page 33) or in parallel (Fig. 6, page 33). Keep the following indications in mind when making con-
nections.

The total load impedance of all the speakers connected to the audio line must not be lower than the
impedance selected on the amplifier output
, in order to prevent potential damage to the amplifier.

The sum of the nominal power values of all the speakers connected to the audio line must not be lower
than the nominal power of the amplifier.
