The gain-up feature allows more light to enter the camcorder.
Some examples when you may want to add more light are:

When the subject is darker than the surrounding scene.
l
When the background is bright, but your subject appears too
dark. For example, a person standing in front of a window.

When the subject you are recording is in a shadowed area.
Note:
Recordings made using the gain-up feature may appear grainy.
To
use the gain-up feature:
1. Slide the
POWER
switch to turn on the camcorder. The
POWER
indicator will light.
2. Make sure the
CAMERA/PLAY MODE
control panel is in the
CAMERA
position.
3. Press the
UP
button. The
GAIN UP
indicator will
appear in the electronic viewfinder.
Note:
Pressing the
GAIN UP
button turns
off
the
FULL AUTO
feature.
