Step 2. Choose and Installation Location
and Make the Cable Runs
In this step you will need to select the best location for
the unit using the criteria outlined in the Summary sec-
tion on the previous page. Then hook up the provided
DC power cord to your 12 Volt DC buss or marine bat-
tery and run the Modular Phone Cord from your POTS
phone(s) to the selected location for the unit. This unit
does not have an ON/OFF switch so a separate breaker
on your electronics DC panel is recommended.
1)
Your RAYCOM Cellular power cord is voltage regulated
so that as long as the voltage source
supplies 10 to 18VDC, the output of
the power cord will be 12VDC.
2)
The (+) wire of the power cord must
be connected to the POSITIVE (+)
terminal of the power source and the
(-) wire connected to the NEGATIVE (-)
terminal of the power source. Once
connected, plug the 2.5mm barrel plug
into the power plug on the bottom side
of the unit. The LED indictor on top of the unit should
illuminate red. If the LED does not illuminate, insure that
there is power available at the power source and the polarity is correct.
3)
If the length of the supplied power cable is not sufficient to reach your DC
power source, it can be extended by adding more cable as necessary.
However for power cable runs longer than 15 feet, larger wire diameter size
should be used to prevent line loss.
4)
Run the Modular Phone Cord from your POTS telephone to the RAYCOM
location.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure the wiring from the
telephone equipment to your
RAYCOM
is properly protected
from all transient voltages,
including lightning.
