INTRODUCTION
The Raven SCS 460 3 Tier Driver (SPRAYER CONTROL SYSTEM) is designed to improve the uniformity
of spray applications. Its performance relies on the installation and preventive maintenance of the
complete sprayer. It is important that this Installation and Service Manual be reviewed thoroughly before
operating the system. This manual provides a simple step-by-step procedure for installing and operating.
The SCS 460 3 Tier Driver system consists of a computer-based Control Console, a Speed Sensor, a
turbine type Flow Meter, a motorized Control Valve, a Pressure Sensor, and a Tier Driver Interface Box.
The Console mounts directly in the cab of the vehicle for easy operator use. The Radar Speed Sensor is
mounted to the frame of the vehicle or implement (wheel drive and speedometer Drive Speed Sensors are
also available.) The motorized Control Valve, Flow Meter, Pressure Sensor, and Tier Driver Interface Box
mount to the framework supporting the boom valves. Appropriate cabling is furnished for field installation.
The operator sets the target volume per area to be sprayed and the SCS 460 automatically maintains the
flow regardless of vehicle speed or gear selection. A manual override switch allows the operator to
manually control flow for system check-out and spot spraying. Actual volume per area being applied is
displayed at all times. The SCS 460 3 Tier Driver additionally functions as an area monitor, speed monitor,
and volume totalizer.
The 3 Tier Driver ability of the SCS 460 will turn on and off different sets of nozzle tiers in order to maintain
system pressure as flow increases or decreases. This feature allows for a steady spray pattern. The
console will control the tiers through the Tier Driver Interface Box either manually or automatically based
on the system pressure. The operator sets maximum and minimum system pressure trigger points for
which the automatic mode will sequence tiers up and down.
NOTE:
The SCS 460 3 Tier Driver Control Console is designed to be used with
external Boom switches. In order for the Console to know when and which
Boom is ON or OFF, Boom signal wires are provided.
