8 .4 Choose Location for Heater
When selecting a s u ita b le mo u nting location for the
CGTH-Series heater it is important to consider the
follo
w ing:
• The heater m u st meet the minim u m mo u nting
height req u irement of 7' (2.1 m) a b o v e the floor.
For aircraft hangars and p ub lic garages, the
heater m u st meet the minim u m mo u nting height
req u irement of 8' (2.4 m) a b o v e the floor.
• The proposed mo u nting location allo w s for the
minim u m req u ired safe distances from com bu sti-
b les s u ch as v ehicles, w ood, gasoline and flam-
ma b le o b jects, liq u ids and v apors.
• The proposed location of the heater w ill not
restrict motion of passage w ay doors or w indo w s.
• The proposed location w ill not interfere w ith oper-
ation of the o v erhead garage door or allo w the
door to enter the minim u m req u ired safe dis-
tances from com bu sti b les.
• The proposed location w ill pro v ide the b est co v er-
age of the total area to b e heated.
• Consideration b e gi v en to the types of v ehicles
that w ill b e parked in the garage (cars, v ans,
b oats, RV's, etc.).
• The proposed location w ill allo w for the req u ired
safe distances from com bu sti b les w ith respect to
the v ehicles parked in the garage.
• The proposed location w ill allo w the req u ired u tili-
ties (i.e.: gas and electric) and v enting to b e
installed (maxim u m v ent length is 10' (3 m).
• S u fficient clearances w ill exist to allo w for easy
access to the ser v ice door.
• O v erhead str u ct u ral mem b ers (rafters, b eams,
etc.) are accessi b le for attaching the heater.
• To ens u re the heater is placed in a appro v ed
application.
8 .5 General Ventin g Guidelines
Regardless of the v enting arrangement that w ill b e
connected to the heater, the follo w ing general g u ide-
lines for v enting m u st b e follo w ed:
1. See Page 19, Figure 8 for allo w a b le v ent
terminal locations.
2. The 3" (8 cm) fl u e pipe m u st b e centered inside
the 5" (13 cm) air s u pply pipe.
3. The total length of v ent pipe (horizontal and v er-
tical r u ns com b ined, pl u s the length of the exte-
rior termination) m u st not exceed 10' (3 m), and
m u st not b e less than 2' 6" (76 cm). A maxim u m
of t w o el b o w s are allo w ed w ith nat u ral gas, one
el b o w w ith propane.
4. The v ent terminal, mo u nted o u tside of the bu ild-
ing, sho u ld not b e located a b o v e w alk w ays.
Condensate prod u ced d u ring operation of the
heater co u ld drip onto the w alk w ay forming ice
d u ring cold w eather.
5. Be s u re that the v enting installation is in accor-
dance w ith all applica b le local codes and recom-
mendations of the local gas company.
WARNING
Fire Hazard
Keep all flammable objects, liquids and
vapors the minimum required safe distances
to combustibles away from heater.
Some objects will catch fire or explode when
placed close to heater.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death, injury or property damage.
WARNING
Carbon Monoxide Hazard
Heaters must be exhausted outside.
Use materials supplied.
This heater needs fresh air for safe operation
and must be installed so there are provisions
for adequate combustion and ventilation air.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death or injury.
