RESULT: THE RAIL GEAR SHOULD NOT LOWER.

PRESS THE RAIL MODE SWITCH TO ACTIVATE RAIL MODE.

MOVE THE RAIL GEAR RAISE/LOWER FORWARDS.

RESULT: THE FRONT RAIL GEAR WILL LOWER ONTO THE RAILS AND LIFT THE MACHINE OFF
THE GROUND.
O
RESULT: THE GREEN INDICATOR LIGHT TO THE RIGHT OF THE LEVER WILL ILLUMINATE
WHEN THE FRONT RAIL GEAR IS FULLY DEPLOYED.
20.
Repeat for the rear rail gear by moving the rail gear selector switch to the back position.
21.
MOVE THE RAIL GEAR RAISE/LOWER FORWARDS.

RESULT: THE REAR RAIL GEAR WILL LOWER ONTO THE RAILS AND LIFT THE MACHINE OFF
THE GROUND.
O
RESULT: THE GREEN INDICATOR LIGHT TO THE LEFT OF THE LEVER WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN
THE REAR RAIL GEAR IS FULLY DEPLOYED.
Test Rail Drive and Rail Braking
PRIOR TO DRIVING ON RAIL, ENSURE THAT THE CENTRAL ARTICULATING JOINT (STEERING LOCK
BAR) ON THE JCB VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOCKED USING THE PINS PROVIDED ON THE CHASSIS.
22.
SELECT FIRST GEAR AND DRIVE FORWARDS SLOWLY.

Result: The machine should move forwards.
23.
Press the brake pedal firmly.
O
RESULT: THE MACHINE SHOULD STOP PROMPTLY AND FIRMLY.
24.
SELECT NEUTRAL ON THE TRANSMISSION.
THE BRAKES MUST BE ABLE TO HOLD THE MACHINE ON ANY SLOPE IT IS ABLE TO CLIMB.
If the brakes fail or are deemed inadequate, press the red stop button in the cab to apply the
emergency brakes.
