Chapter 1. Initial Setup
Safety Information
The following safety precautions should always be observed during
operation, service and repair of this equipment.
This equipment shall be serviced by qualified technicians only.
Do not modify or taper with the radio for any reason.
Use only Radioddity brand batteries and chargers intended for this model.
Do not use any portable radio with a damaged antenna. If a damaged
antenna comes into contact with your skin, a minor burn can result.
Turn off your radio prior to entering any area with explosive and/or flammable
materials.
Do not charge your battery in an area with explosive or flammable materials.
To avoid electromagnetic interference turn off the radio in any area where
posted notices instruct to do so.
Turn off the radio before boarding an aircraft; Any use of the radio must be
in accordance with airline regulations or crew instructions.
Turn off the radio before entering a blasting area.
Do not place the radio over an air bag area or in the air bag deployment
area for vehicles equipped with an air bag.
Do not expose the radio to direct sunlight over a long period of time, nor
place it close to any heat source.
When transmitting with a portable radio, hold the radio in a vertical position
with the microphone 3 to 4 centimeters away from your mouth; also make
sure the antenna stays at least 2.5 centimeters away from your body when
transmitting.

Notice
Please make sure to install the antenna and fully charge the battery when using the radio.
Do not over-tighten the antenna to avoid damage to the antenna or radio. When
installing the antenna, grip it by the base and screw into the radio antenna connector.
If you use another antenna, make sure its SWR is 1.5:1 or lower to avoid damage to
the radio transceiver.
Do not hold the antenna with your hand or wrap the antenna with any materials to
avoid interference.
Never transmit without an antenna. Doing so will damage the transmitter and void the
warranty.
