RLWE 4161

Start-up

Power supply

Power on → indication

After connecting mains cable into RLWE 4161 the device is switched on by power
switch (14) on rear side. Refer also Figure 3. During operation of RLWE 4161 the
yellow indicator (13) is glowing.

Usage of signal channels CH1 to CH4

There is a usage of all optical and electrical pulse signal channels at the same time in
parallel possible.

On front panel there are channel CH1 and channel CH3 each with three non-inverting
(5) and one inverting (10, marked by “INV”) TTL signal outputs available.

At channel CH2 and channel CH4 there are three non-inverting (8) and one inverting
(12, marked by „INV“) available to use in parallel.

Optical signal inputs deposited on rear side of RLWE 4161 can be used in parallel.
They can be connected pairwise to TTL and NIM outputs resp. By means of toggle
switch (11) in position “||” it is possible to map optical inputs 1 and 2 to electrical
outputs CH1 and CH2. In position “X” of switch (11) the optical signal 1 is mapped to
output channel CH2 and the optical signal 2 is mapped to output channel 1 at the
same time (crossed-over mode). The identical scope of functions offer optical
channels 3 and 4 in conjunction with electrical output channels CH3 and CH4. This
way optical signal pairs 1, 2 and 3, 4 resp. can be converted optionally into TTL or NIM
signals. Activated mapping modes are indicated by red LEDs above (6) and (7) resp.
on front panel.

As soon as a signal is available on a channel output the yellow signal LEDs (9) and
(12) resp. are glowing. In case there is no signal available these LEDs remain
deactivated.

Usage options at signal inputs of a channel

Via three BNC receptacles (5) on channels CH1 and CH3 resp. there are 50

Ω

outputs

for TTL

signals available. The same TTL signal in inverted form is provided at each

right-hand output which is marked by “INV”.

An analogue configuration is valid for NIM output channels CH2 and CH3. This means
also at output section (8) are three non-inverting and one inverting 50

Ω

outputs for

NIM signals available

. NIM stands for Nuclear Instrumentation Module Standard

and is implemented in this product according to the fast negative logic standard
version of DOE/ER-045T.

Mounting instructions for assembling into a 19“ rack

Four elongated holes are available on right and left end of front panel of RLWE 4161
for fastening this unit in a 19” rack. Use IEC 60297 for further instructions.
