MODULE OPERATION
General
Information
The 1260-82 may be operated either in message-based mode or
in register-based mode.
When the message-based mode of operation is used, commands
are sent to the 1260-01T command module. The 1260-01T
command module interprets the commands, and operates the
1260-82 module by sending 8-bit bytes to control registers on the
1260-82 module.
A conceptual view of the message-based mode of operation is
shown in Figure 3-1 below.

When the register-based mode of operation is used, the user
writes to the control registers on the 1260-82 module directly.
The 1260-01T command module does not monitor the operations,
and does not track the state of the optical switch on the module in
this mode.
A conceptual view of the register-based mode of operation is
shown in Figure 3-2 below.
