NuVinci N380 with continuously variable transmission
The Performance MN380 is equipped with a NuVinci
N380 hub. The N380 is a maintance free, continuously
variable transmission hub that shift stepless from
the lowest to the highest gear. This enables you to
find the ideal cadence under all circumstances (70
rotations of the crank per minute is best for the system
performance). The NuVinci N380 hub is known for it’s
impressive gear ratio of 380% (0,5 underdrive and 1,9
overdrive).
Controlling it is easily done by turning the gripshifter
at the grip on the rightside. You can always shift, even
while standing still. However, if the bike is in motion
during shifting it will feel a bit easier, and you can shift
between the entire gear range only if the wheels are
turning. In the display of the grip shifter you can see
the current gear ratio. The N380 has a surprising display
with a small cyclist that seems to move either over a hill
(low gear) or move over a flat surface (high gear).
