Obtaining a Replacement Hard Drive Backplane

Before beginning the replacement procedure, make sure that you have the required replacement kit. The
appropriate replacement drive backplane will be provided by Quantum Customer Support (see

).

You will need the following items to perform this procedure:

l

Replacement hard drive backplane kit provided by Quantum Customer Support.

l

Masking tape and felt tip marker (for temporarily labeling drives)

l

ESD grounding wrist strap (included in the replacement kit)

This section describes how to remove and replace the drive backplane in the DXi6900 G2 Node. The drive
backplane connects the SAS hard drives in the Node to the PERC H730 integrated storage controller.

Caution:

Use appropriate ESD precautions, including the use of a grounding strap, when performing

this procedure.
