C. Features

The O3-4D1L3 provides the following features:

Supports Universal and, by virtue of VT1.5 OC3 mapping, Integrated network
topologies

Occupies just two card slots in Type 3192 mechanics shelves— ideal for use in existing
remote terminals (RTs) or central offices (COs)

DS1 numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 mapped into STS-1 VT1.5 #1 positions 1, 2, 3, and 4,
respectively

Available Type 400 mechanics version (O3-4D1) suitable for placement at subscriber
sites

Climate hardened

DS1 lightning protection and – 48 VDC power input surge protection to help assure
reliable service delivery for units installed at cell sites or in other harsh environments

Plug-and-play default DS1 provisioning [short loops, bipolar with 8-zero substitution
(B8ZS) and extended superframe (ESF)] and simple front-panel switches that enable or
disable each of the four DS1 ports to eliminate the need to use the craft port for most
applications

DS1 line build-out provisioning for 0 to 655 feet as well as 0 dB, 7.5 dB, and 15 dB

Support for ESF data link and craft port loopback commands

DS1 superframe (SF), ESF, and unframed operation support

Instant Default feature that permits restoring all settings to their default state without
the need to use the craft port

Utilizes Pulsecom patent-pending “Optionless SONET” technology to eliminate OC3
provisioning

Designed to accept OC3 small form-factor pluggable (SFP) 1310 nm, 1550 nm, and
coarse wave division multiplexing (CWDM) transceivers

Standard female 24-pin AMP

CHAMP

TM

front-panel DS1 connector

Standard DB-9 RS-232 craft port front-panel jack (9600 baud, 8-bit bytes, no parity, and
one stop bit) to access performance information and advanced provisioning capabilities

Simple front-panel indicators for OC3, UNIT, and DS1 operating status

Alarms that activate alarm indication signal (AIS) and DC contact closures to provide
end-to-end sectionalization

Fiber attenuators not required to perform an optical loopback with a fiber jumper when
using the SFP-OC3-1310-19 transceiver

Side-by-side mounting compatible with Pulsecom O3D3-1310L3 and O3D3-1550ERL3
units to support DS1 and DS3 services
