A. Controls and Indicators
Front Panel
The front panel of the O3-4D1L3 provides connection to the OC3 and DS1 signals as well
as the craft port. LEDs show OC3, DS1, and UNIT status. A 4-position DIP switch
enables or disables each DS1. Front-panel connectors and indicators are shown in Figure 1
and described in Table 5.
The DS1 connector has four transmit pairs and four receive pairs; front-panel DS1 pin-
outs are listed in Table 6. Shielded cables are available from Pulsecom: Order
AMP-MSL/U24Sxxx, where xxx is the cable length in feet. This cable has a male
screw-lock connector at one end and is unterminated (stub) at the other end. See Practice
Section 1636 for cable installation instructions.

Lights red to show unit/configuration failure or no SFP optical module installed.

Lights green to show that the OC3 signal is connected and operating properly.
Lights red to show loss of signal, loss of framing, loss of pointer, out of frame, or
optical degradation condition; also shows SFP optical module failure or
non-OC3 transceiver installed.
Lights yellow to show far-end trouble for the associated OC3.
Turns OFF to show no SFP optical module installed.

Lights green to show that a DS1 is operating properly.
Flashes green to show that a DS1 loopback has been activated.
Lights red to show a DS1 loss of signal, if enabled.
Lights yellow to show that a DS1 alarm indication signal (unframed all ones) has
been detected.
Turns OFF to show that a DS1 port is disabled.
NOTE: Order the Pulsecom screw-lock to unterminated cable, AMP-MSL/U24Sxxx, where xxx =
cable length in feet; screw-lock hardware is provided.
