Troubleshooting Guide
Does the Analog High Current Power
Supply replace the need for a Power
Plant?
The Analog High Current Power Supply will
supply a better source of DC to the PCA-2
or other connected equipment. However the
incoming AC is still very important to the
sound of the PCA-2.
The Analog HCPS does not regenerate new
AC like a PS Audio Power Plant.
The Power Plant will further enhance the
performance of the Analog HCPS when
power is delivered from a Power Plant.
The blue PS Logo does not immediately
illuminate when Analog HCPS is on.
The blue PS Logo will only illuminate in
tandem with the PCA-2 PS logo. The PCA-2
PS logo will not illuminate until the startup
sequence has finished and is in operational
mode.
Ensure that main power switch on the rear
panel is switched ‘on’. The switch will illumi-
nate if the Analog HCPS is receiving power.
Ensure that the DIM mode is not set to ‘off’
on the PCA-2 remote.
The Analog HCPS will not provide power
to the PCA-2.
Ensure that the PCA-2 will power up if con-
nected directly to a standard wall outlet:
Remove the connecting cables from
the Analog HCPS and plug the PCA-2
directly into a wall outlet. If the PCA-2
will not power up from the wall outlet see
the Troubleshooting Guide in the PCA-2
manual.
If the PCA-2 does power up from the wall
outlet then disconnect the PCA-2 from the
wall outlet and re-connect the cables from
the analog HCPS to the PCA-2. Ensure that
the cables are locked into place by twisting
them clockwise.
If the Analog HCPS will still not provide
power to the PCA-2 check that the fuse is
not blown:
The chances of the fuse in the Analog
HCPS being blown are very low. However,
if the fuse is blown, the Analog HCPS will
be completely inoperable. To check the fuse,
locate the section of the back panel labeled
“Fuse.” Unplug the unit from the wall,
remove the fuse and check its conductivity.
If necessary, replace the fuse and try pow-
ering up the Analog HCPS. The rear panel
switch should illuminate. If the fuse (3 amp
fast blow) is blown and a replacement fuse
does not solve the problem, please contact
your dealer for additional service.
Can I use a High Current Power Supply
with other power conditioners?
While it is certainly acceptable to use an
High Current Power Supply along with other
power conditioners, it is not advisable to do
so without careful evaluation. Our experi-
ence has been that almost all power line
conditioners soften the dynamics of music
and reduces snap and clarity of the video
presentation. This is not always the case for
every system, so if you plan on using the
High Current Power Supply in addition to
an existing conditioner, take care to make
a proper evaluation. Do not simply assume
it will be better.
Can the High Current Power Supply be
used with balanced power?
Yes. The High Current Power Supply can
accept either single ended AC (this is what
typically comes out of a standard U.S.
wall socket) or balanced AC. Balanced
AC can be achieved by using a PS Audio
Power Plant AC regenerator, or a properly
designed balanced isolation transformer.
