BASIC HEAD REPAIR/REBUILD (Fig. 46 )

Heads should be replaced or repaired as soon as

damage occurs, or wear requires it.

All heads should be returned to WEILER

r

 and

Company, Inc. for rebuild.

The dimensions given are for informational

reference to gage wear.

MINOR THREAD DAMAGE can be re

−

shaped

with a three

−

cornered file.  If the threads are badly

worn, it may be necessary to have the head

replaced or rebuilt.  A consistently loose ring will

mis

−

shape the threads causing grinding problems

and fitting problems of ring/head.

PLATE RETAINING LUG can become battered or

broken.  It can be replaced by welding but too

much heat may cause some shrinkage or distortion.

ANTI

−

SPIN FLUTES in front of the head flutes

eventually become rounded and product spins

behind plate.  Factory rebuild is required.

HEAD FLUTES have sharp edges that wear away

over a period of time.  Straight flutes can be

replaced, while spiral flutes cannot.

When replacing the head, replace the head gasket.

Tighten the head bolts in a “cross

−

pattern”.  After

several hours of operation with a new gasket or on

a new grinder, the bolts should be re

−

checked.
