HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER

IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to

cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem-

perature before turning on the power. If you do not

do this, you may damage the console displays or

other electrical components.

Plug in the power cord (see

page 11). Next, locate the

power switch on the treadmill

frame near the power cord.

Make sure that the switch is

in the reset position.

IMPORTANT: The console features a display demo

mode, designed to be used if the treadmill is dis-

played in a store. If the displays light as soon as

you plug in the power cord and press the power

switch into the reset position, the demo mode is

turned on. To turn off the demo mode, hold down

the Stop button for a few seconds. If the displays

remain lit, see HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE

SETTINGS at the right to turn off the demo mode.

Next, stand on the foot rails of the treadmill. Locate the

clip attached to the key (see the drawing on page 12),

and slide the clip securely onto the waistband of your

clothes. Then, insert the key into the console. After a

moment, the displays will light.

IMPORTANT: In an

emergency, the key can be pulled from the con-

sole, causing the walking belt to slow to a stop.

Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps back-

ward; if the key is not pulled from the console, ad-

just the position of the clip.

Note: The console can display speed and distance in

either miles or kilometers. To find which unit of mea-

surement is selected, see HOW TO PERSONALIZE

CONSOLE SETTINGS at the right. For simplicity, all

instructions in this manual refer to miles.

HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SETTINGS

The console features a settings mode that allows you

to view the total time and total distance the walking

belt has moved, select a system of measurement for

the console, turn on and turn off the demo mode, ad-

just the volume and contrast settings of the console,

and select an audio equalizer setting.

Follow the steps below to personalize the console

settings.

To select the settings mode, first remove the key from

the console. Then, hold down the Stop button while

reinserting the key into the console.

When the settings mode is selected, the top of the dis-

play will show the total number of hours that the tread-

mill has been used and the total number of miles or

kilometers that the walking belt has moved.

The display will show the word ENGLISH or METRIC

to indicate which system of measurement is selected.

To change the system of measurement, press the

Speed increase button.

The console features a display demo mode, designed

to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store. While

the demo mode is turned on, the console will function

normally when you plug in the power cord, press the

power switch into the reset position, and insert the key

into the console. However, when you remove the key,

the displays will remain lit, although the buttons will not

function. Press the Speed decrease button to select

OFF (to turn off the demo mode), VISUAL EQ (to dis-

play a visual equalizer), ROAD (to display an anima-

tion of a runner on a road), or PROGRAMS (to display

previews of various workouts).

To adjust the volume, first highlight volume level by

pressing the Display button repeatedly. Next, press

the Performance or Custom button to select a volume

setting.

To adjust the contrast of the display, first highlight con-

trast level by pressing the Display button repeatedly.

Next, press the Performance or Custom button to se-

lect a contrast setting.

You can also select an equalizer setting to optimize

the sound of your personal music. Choose among DE-

FAULT, CLASSIC, COUNTRY, TECHNO, or ROCK.

To select an equalizer setting, first highlight the equal-

izer setting by pressing the Display button repeatedly.

Next, press the Performance or Custom button to se-

lect an equalizer setting.

To exit the settings mode at any time, remove the key

from the console.
