Placing
The product shall not be used in damp or wet locations,
next to a bathtub, sink, swimming pool or any other similar
conditions. Avoid letting liquids enter the device or the
power supply. Never place any item containing liquid, such
as a flower vase on or near the device. Never spill any
liquid on the device or the power supply. Never place any
naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on or near
the device
Hooking up
Make all connections whilst the device is disconnected from
the power supply.
Only connect the equipment to a power supply of the type
described in the operating instructions or as marked on the
equipment.
AC outlet voltages vary from country to country. Before
connecting to the mains, make sure that the voltage in your
area meets the voltage requirements printed on the power
supply. The power cord is used to disconnect the unit from
the mains. Make sure that the power cord is easily acces-
sible at all times. Never handle the device, the power
cord/power supply while your hands are wet or damp.
Cleaning
Unplug the unit from the mains before cleaning. Use only a
wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use any chemical
solvents for cleaning. Use of furniture cleaning sprays or
polishes may cause permanent damages on the surface of
the device.
Servicing
You should not attempt to service the device. In case of any
problems contact your dealer.
Warranty
The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage
caused by not adhering to these instructions for use. Modi-
fication or change to any part of the product by unauthor-
ized persons release the manufacturer from any liability
over and above the lawful rights of the customer.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Connect the USB input of the DAC to a free USB socket on your computer. The DAC will be
automatically recognised by the computer when turned on.
For Windows® operating systems a 24Bit/192kHz driver (supplied on CD) has to be installed.
(Mac OS® operating systems support 24Bit/192kHz as a standard). Insert the supplied CD into
the drive of your PC and follow the instructions.
After installing the Pro-Ject USB audio driver, some settings have to be done.
For example Windows 7 and 8 operating system:
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound: Select
Project RS USB 2.0 Audio Out
Properties > Level:
Sound setting must be 100

DSD settings
Pro-Ject DAC Box RS is capable of playing DSD64 and DSD128 files. For playing DSD files you
will require player in your computer which is capable to play DSD files (for example JRiver
Mediacenter, Foobar2000 etc.)
Required settings for DSD:
DSD Playback Method: DoP (DSD over PCM), DoP Marker 0x05/0xFA
Recommended settings for USB streaming mode is
SAFE
and ASIO buffer size
8192 or higher.
Please note that DSD requires high data rate and slower computers may have problems with
playing DSD.
