Seat Installation
Pride Power Chairs use a Universal Mounting System
(UMS) to attach the seat assembly to the power base
assembly. The UMS enables you to install and remove the
seat quickly and easily. The main components are a pair
of aluminum extrusions mounted to the underside of the
seat base and trapeze bars mounted on the power base.
See figures 11 and 12.
WARNING! Avoid injury! Do not pick up
the seat assembly by the armrests. They
are free to pivot, and you may lose
control of the seat if they do so,
resulting in personal injury or damage
to the chair.
To install the seat (initial installation):
1. Prior to initial installation, the rear trapeze bar needs to
be installed to the seat base.
2. Slide the rear trapeze bar into the rear extrusion. See
figure 11.
3. Squeeze the retaining pin and clip it onto the rear
trapeze bar.
4. Slide the seat onto the side trapeze bars and slowly
lower the seat onto the front trapeze bar until it locks
into place. See figure 12.
5. Flip the seat latch safety down. See figure 12.
WARNING! Make sure the seat latch
safety is flipped down before using your
power chair.
6. Install the controller into one of the armrests. See
figure 10.
7. Tighten the setscrew on the armrest. See figure 22.
8. Route the controller cable so that it cannot be pinched
in the seat hinge.
9. Secure the controller cable to the armrest receiver with
one or more wire ties.
To remove the seat:
1. Flip up the seat latch safety.
2. Squeeze the seat latch together. See figure 12.
3. Pull the front of the seat up.
4. Slide the seat forward and off of the power base.
