Appendix A. Changes between
PPS27 and PPS27 II.
This appendix summarizes the main changes between the old
(original) and new (II.) versions of PPS27 system.
A.1. Hardware changes
The surface readout system now has modular design.
•
It allows connecting 1 or 2 gauges.
•
It allows connecting regular or quartz gauge(s).
•
LCD panel is optional.
•
Built-in memory (to store data samples while working
standalone) is optional.
•
The data transfer speed (when communicating with
computer) has improved (115 kbps).
•
The surface box is now using two distinct modes: logging
mode and download mode.
•
The old version created a new job in the surface box’s
memory each time the box was powered up. The new
version also creates a new job each time the box is switched
from download to logging mode.
•
While the box is in download mode, no samples are stored in
the box’s memory.
A.2. Software changes
Version 6.1 implements a data structures redesign. The application
now uses the database engine, thus enabling working with large sets
of samples.
