3. Push the latch button (B) to open the wire compartment (C) cover.
4. Check that the drive roller matches the wire diameter and type. Replace the
roller if necessary.
5. Check that the groove in the wire drive
mechanism aligns correctly before
installing the welding wire.
6. Remove the tension adjustment screw
(Fig. 4-1) and remove the wire spool.
7. Make sure you remove any wire from the
spool gun assembly to avoid jamming the
mechanism when installing the new wire.
8. Place the spool into the wire compartment over the center post. The wire
comes off the spool’s top to enter the mechanism.
9. Reinstall the tension adjustment screw until hand-tight.
10. Remove the leading end of the wire from the spool. Hold the end as the
wire will unspool itself if tension is released.
11. Cut off the leading wire end to remove the damaged or bent portion. The
end must be straight for the following steps.
12. Loosen the tension arm adjustment
knob (Fig. 5-2) to release the pressure
of the tension arm (Fig. 5-4). Squeeze
the tension arm toward the front of the
gun to open up a gap between the
drive roller (Fig. 5-3) and the pressure
roller (Fig. 5-1).
13. Carefully feed the wire into the inlet
guide (Fig. 5-5), then over the drive
roller and into the liner.
14. Check that the wire is in the liner and
not between the liner and the welding
gun wall. Feed 2 inches of wire into the liner.
15. Align the wire into the groove of the drive roller and release the tension
arm. Check that the wire is still in the drive roller’s groove.
