5. Always use both hands when operating the tool, unless the tool is designed for single hand use.
6. Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where it may contact hidden wiring
or its own cord. Contact with a ‘live’ wire will electrify exposed metal parts and shock the operator.
7. Before using the tool on a work piece, test the tool by running it at the highest no-load speed for at least
30 seconds in a safe position. Stop immediately if there is any abnormal vibration or wobbling that could
indicate poor installation of the shear blades. Check the tool to determine the cause.
8. Do not allow the tool’s motor to overload and/or overheat by taking work breaks.
9. When the tool is in operation, keep hands away from the sander/polisher pad and the area it
is being applied to.
10. Do not use the tool on any material containing asbestos.
11. Do not touch the shear blades or the surface that has been cut with this tool immediately after use. The
surface will be hot and may cause an injury.
12. Do not allow persons who are not familiar with the tool or have not read these instructions to use the tool.
KICKBACK PRECAUTION
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or other accessory. The
edge of the wheel enters the pinch point and digs into the material, causing the wheel to climb out or kick out in the
direction opposite of the accessory’s rotation. Kickback may result in:
1. Serious injury to yourself or others.
2. Loss of control over the tool.
3. Damage to the tool or cut off wheel.
4. Damage to the workpiece.
Kickback can be avoided by taking proper precautions:
1. Maintain a firm grip on the tool and position your body and arms to allow you to resist kickback forces.
Kickback will propel the tool in the direction opposite to the wheel’s movement at the time of snagging.
2. Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. If kickback occurs, the wheel may pass over your hand
and cause serious injury. Use clamps or a vice to hold down the workpiece.
3. Use special care when working on corners, sharp edges etc. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a
tendency to snag the rotating accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.
4. Only use accessories designed for this tool.
