KB-6600 series Technical Manual 2 - 12
KBM.EXE FOR DOS
Starting The Program
To start programming the keyboard under pure DOS environment, the user has
to change directory to the “POSIFLEX.D” which was established through installation,
and then type the command “KBM” followed by pressing the “enter” key. For
Windows 3.1/ 95/ 98, please click this icon in the start menu
or click “Start”, “Run” and input “C:\Posiflex.D\KBM.exe” to start the KBM
programming task of KB-6600 in Windows DOS box.
Please always check that the
screen display
of the utility must resemble the
programmable key layout of KB-6600. If not, most probably the wrong utility is
engaged, and the user should exit the utility without writing anything to the keyboard.
Improper operation with a wrong utility could mess up the data format inside the KB-
6600. Please review the chapter about “UTILITY INSTALLATION” in this case.
In case that the program KBM.EXE is executed for off-line programming, that
means executing KBM.EXE on a normal PC compatible machine without the
programmable keyboard attached, the program will start with the display as in later
illustrated Fig. 2-17.
However, if the programmable keyboard is connected to the system when
entering the KBM.EXE, the program will auto-detect the type and size of the
programmable keyboard and skip this menu to start reading after getting confirmation
as in picture Fig.2-15, the current contents of the programmable keyboard for
programming. If the user want to start programming from a “Blank” base, please press
the “ESC” key to the question in Fig. 2-15.

user will find the screen like in Fig. 2-16 for a moment.
