USE OF SALT
Which kind of salt to use
Use only sodium chloride (NaCl) salt that is at least 99.8% pure.
Do NOT use iodized salt or yellow salt (yellow prussiate of soda).
See
p. 15 SALT TABLE
for details.
Optimum salt level
The ideal salt level in the pool water is between 2500 ppm and 3500 ppm.
How to add salt
IMPORTANT:
do NOT add salt through a skimmer filter pump. Never allow the salt to pile up on the pool floor.
1. Switch your filter pump on.
2. Determine the amount of salt to be added (See
p. 15 SALT TABLE
), and evenly spread the salt along the inside edge
(perimeter) of your pool.
3. Brush the pool floor to speed up the dissolving process.
4. Run the filter pump for 24 hours to completely dissolve the salt.
5. When all the salt is dissolved, turn the Salt Water System on.
How to reduce salt
If too much salt is added, the Salt Status Indicator
5
will turn orange.
Drain the pool and refill with fresh water until the light turns green.
How to test the salt level
Simply use a salt level test strip (not included).
IMPORTANT:
ALWAYS follow the directions of the test strips you use.
IMPORTANT:
salt level is NOT equal to chlorine level. See
p. 16-17, CHLORINE LEVEL & OPERATION TIME.
