compressed air regulator:
• Option: install a compressed air sensor (kit) or the CAR-
KIT on:
- the fan housing with self-tapping screws; or
- another suitable position
in accordance with the electrical diagram.
• Connect a compressed air hose to the compressed air
regulator or CAR-KIT.
4.7.1 Functional test
To do a functional test of the filter cleaning system, proceed as
follows.
• Push and hold the
MANUAL CLEANING
button (ref. Fig. 5.1B)
for 5 seconds to activate one cleaning cycle.
• Make sure that you hear the correct number of pulses. The
number of pulses that you hear must be:
- MDB-2/C: 2 pulses
- MDB-4/C: 4 pulses
- MDB-6/C: 6 pulses
4.8
Option: precoat (PREcO-N) / cART-D and
cART-c only
A layer of precoat enhances the efficiency and lifespan of the
filter cartridges CART-D and CART-C. The other types of filter
cartridges do not need precoat material.
To make it easier to apply precoat material
(PRECO-N) after filter replacement, we recommend
to install an inspection hatch in the duct between
the external device and the air inlet module of the
unit.
Refer to Fig. VI (B) on page 91.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Wear respiratory protection and protective
gloves when you apply precoat material.
Necessary quantity of precoat:
- MDB-2/C: 1 kg (2.2 lbs.)
- MDB-4/C: 2 kg (4.4 lbs.)
- MDB-6/C: 3 kg (6.6 lbs.)
ATTENTION
To maintain the layer of precoat on the filter
cartridges, do the functional test of the filter
cleaning
before
you apply the precoat. Refer to
section 4.7.1.
To apply precoat material to the filter cartridges, proceed as
follows.
• Disconnect the compressed air supply.
• Put the precoat material in a bucket.
• Push the
START/STOP FAN
button (ref. Fig. 5.1A) to start the
fan. It must run at full speed.
• Gradually
10
add the precoat material into the inlet of the
unit (or into the inspection hatch, if any).
• Push the
START/STOP FAN
button to stop the fan.

Duct connection
To prevent the dust to reach the external device by
the compressed air pulses during filter cleaning, you
must install a non-return valve in the duct between
the external device and the MDB-COMPACT unit.
Refer to Fig. VI (A) on page 91.
Min. duct diameters:
10. Dosing speed: approx. 1 kg (2.2 lbs.) per minute.
- MDB-2/C: Ø 250 mm (9.8 in.)
- MDB-4/C: Ø 355 mm (14.0 in.)
- MDB-6/C: Ø 400 mm (15.7 in)
If applicable, install an adapter from metric to
imperial duct diameter; refer to section 1.4.
• Connect the air inlet of the unit (ref. Fig. 2.1B) with the
outlet of the external device.
• Make sure that all connections are airtight.
ATTENTION
The filtered air is blown back into the workshop by
the outlet of the fan housing. Do
not
connect the air
outlet to any ductwork.
4.10 PLc parameter setting
To adjust the MDB-COMPACT to the actual working days and
hours of your company, you must program a number of
variables in de PLC.
