Use the Left or Right key to go to the "Auto Gain Control" option and select it by
pressing the Enter key.

Use the Left or Right key to select "Auto gain control off" or "Auto gain control on"
and press the Enter key to confirm your selection.
Note: If you have turned on the Auto Gain Control, in recording standby, you will hear
PLEXTALK say "Auto" repeatedly to indicate that the level will be set automatically.
You can manually adjust the recording level as follows:
•
Set the Automatic Gain Control to "Off", using the method detailed above. This
means that you have enabled manual setting of the recording level. The recording
level can be set in the range 0 to 20 in increments of 1.

Press the Record key once to go into recording stand by.
•
Press the Up key. Each time you press the key, the recording level will increase by
one step.
•
Press the Down key. Each time you press the key, the recording level will decrease
by one step.
•
For larger adjustments of the recording level, you can press and hold down the key.
PLEXTALK will continue to increase or decrease the level until you release the key or
the maximum or minimum setting is reached.
•
As you make the adjustments, PLEXTALK will announce the new recording level
and will say either "Low", "Good" or "High" to indicate that the recording level is too
low, about right or too high. You should aim to get PLEXTALK to say "Good" more
often than "Low" or "High".
Note: If the level monitor is off, you will not hear the "Low", "Good" or "High"
announcements.
Note: When you record audio material with the Auto Gain Control ON, you may not get
the recording quality you want. In this situation, redo your recording with the auto gain
control off and adjust the recording level manually.
12.12. Using the level monitor
The level monitor is PLEXTALK's way of indicating if the recording level is low, good or
high or if it is being set automatically. PLEXTALK's default setting is for the level monitor
to be on when you enter recording standby. The level monitor will be automatically muted
when you subsequently start recording.
To turn the level monitor on or off at any time during recording standby, recording pause
or during recording, do the following:
