Playback Designs STREAM-IF
USB IN / OUT:
Direct USB connection to computers and servers for PCM at sample rates up to 384kHz
and DSD up to 11.2MHz. Audio played into this interface from an external source will be
encoded natively to the PLINK format to be sent to a connected Playback Designs digital
product. Any digital audio passing through the Stream-IF can also be recorded onto a
computer through this interface.
COAX OUT:
Any audio passing through the Stream-IF is available through this output with sample
rates up to192kHz for PCM and single rate DSD via DoP. Higher sample rates are down-
converted to 176.4 / 192kHz for PCM and single rate DSD via DoP for DSD.
PLINK OUT:
Proprietary and high quality optical link to other Playback Designs equipment such as the
MPD-8 DAC and others. This connection is the main output of the Stream-IF and
supports multiple audio formats natively for PCM and DSD.
PLINK IN:
This connection can be used in connection with the recording capability of the USB
interface. For instance, you can connect the PLINK output of the MPT-8, MPS-8 or MPS-
5 products to this input to record via USB anything played on these machines.
NETWORK:
The internal Stream-X module uses this connection to your network to stream from either
the internet or your storage devices connected to the same network. Please connect this
to the internet and/or your internal network.
POWER:
7.5V DC power input for Stream-IF. Only use the included power supply.
RESET:
Used in connection with software update procedure. When pressed during normal
operation it resets the interface.
POWERING UP THE STREAM-IF
1. Connect your source(s) to USB, network and/or PLINK inputs.
2. Connect your DAC to either the PLINK or COAX output.
3. Connect the power supply to the power input connector.
4. Press the standby button as soon as the small dot on the display is visible.
5. Select correct input with the selector button on front panel.
