4. Operation with the R/C Speed Controller

The operation is simple. By pressing the buttons on the Pocket Remote, you can select the

direction of motion, speed step, switch the accessory output and trigger an emergency stop.
1 x

= Forward driving direction, speed step 1

2 x

= Forward driving direction, speed step 2, and so on, up to 28

If you are already driving forwards with the locomotive, you can use the button

 to increase

the speed (speed steps). By pressing

, you can decrease the speed.

You can press the buttons briefl y, which only changes one speed step at a time, or you can keep

the buttons pressed, which causes the speed to change continuously.
Using the included transformer in the 35028 set, the R/C Controller adjusts the track voltage in 28

steps from zero to full-voltage, in both directions.
1x

= Reverse driving direction, speed step 1

2x

= Reverse driving direction, speed step 2, and so on, up to 28

If you are already reversing with the locomotive, you can use the button

 to increase the

speed (speed steps). Press the button

 to reduce the speed.

 = Accessories on/off

This toggles on/off the fi xed DC accessory outputs on the R/C Controller.

 = Emergency stop

Notes on Operation:

The starting response of each locomotive is different.  Locos with decoders or other electronics generally require a higher voltage on the track before

starting to move.  In some cases, the arrow key may need to be pressed several times (or held down) before the train starts to move.

Also, the terms “forward” and “reverse” are used here only for reference.  As with any analog DC throttle, depending on which direction the train is

facing on the tracks, pressing “forwards” may cause the train to move either forward or reverse.

5. General information

Thank you for purchasing the PIKO R/C system for radio operation of your trains. Please read these operating instructions carefully in order to be able to use all

the functions of this device. It is essential that you observe the following safety and warning instructions to ensure trouble-free and safe operation.

5.1 Important Safety Precautions:

• Please retain these instructions as they include important information. Retain the product packaging for proper storage and transportation.

•  These items are not toys and are not intended for use by children under 14 years of age. These items are exclusively intended for operating model train systems

and accessories.

• Only connect the Power Supply to a 120 Volt grounded electrical outlet.

• Unplug the Power Supply from the outlet before connecting electrical devices. Danger of short circuit and/or electrical shock.

• Never connect an electrical device to two or more Power Supplies!

•  Unplug the Power Supply from the outlet and disconnect all electrical devices from the Power Supply before attempting any cleaning. Clean only with a soft cloth,

dampened with water if necessary. Do not use chemicals or excessive water.

• Never touch the exposed metal ends of the output wires when the Power Supply is plugged in.

• Never insert the Power Supply’s output wires into an electrical outlet.

• Mount the Power Supply and R/C Controller in a stable, dry, well-ventilated location. Protect the Pocket Remote from moisture.

• Never make any holes or attempt to insert anything into the Power Supply’s housing.

•   Do not power-on the system without a properly functioning Pocket Remote in-hand. Unintended operation can occur. Always be prepared to promptly shut off

power to the system in the event of a loss of radio connection or failure of the Pocket Remote.

•  Inspect the power plug and the housing of the Power Supply at regular intervals for signs of damage. Should damage be detected, do not use any of these com-

ponents until they have been properly repaired or replaced.

• In case service is needed, return the component to PIKO America. Do not attempt to open any of these components. This voids the warranty.

• Do not dispose of this product in the trash. Do not incinerate. Follow proper disposal and recycling procedures as required by local jurisdiction.

•   The purchaser and operator are responsible for the safe connection, inspection and use of all components and related devices! Inform children and guest opera-

tors of proper procedures.

5.2 Safety & warning information

The remote control system has been designed and approved exclusively for radio control of model trains. The construction and operation of such models requires

special knowledge, technical care, technical understanding and careful, safety-conscious behavior. Errors during assembly or operation can cause considerable

damage to property and personal injury. As manufacturers and sellers, we are unable to monitor the operation of our products. Therefore we do not assume any

liability. Technical defects of an electrical or mechanical nature can lead to unexpected operating behavior, which can cause serious damage or injury! Even oper-

ation of the receiver system without activated transmitter can lead to this effect. Protect your remote control system from dust, dirt and moisture. Do not expose the

devices to excessive heat, cold or vibration. Operation may only be carried out in the specifi ed temperature range from -15°C to +55°C. Always check your remote

control for damage to housings, cables and connections.
