Connecting Attack Line Hose
Discharge Water - Connect Attack Line Hoses
1. Close discharge valve.
CLOSE to keep water from flowing once discharge cap is removed.
ALWAYS OPEN drain/bleeder valve BEFORE removing inlet or discharge cap.
Discharge lines can trap pressure if valve is opened and left closed.
Discharge cap under pressure will blow off with explosive force.
Exploding cap will injure or kill.
2. Open drain/bleeder valve.
Pull up or turn counterclockwise (to the left) to OPEN.
Air pressure can be trapped between the discharge valve and the discharge cap. You must bleed off this
pressure BEFORE the cap is removed. Otherwise, any trapped air pressure can blow the cap off with great
force and injure someone.
3. Open discharge cap vent (if one is present).
Some discharge cape have a pressure release vent on the cap. If present, OPEN vent before removing the
cap.
4. Remove discharge cap.
BEFORE removing discharge cap, OPEN the pressure release valve or drain bleeder valve to make sure
trapped air pressure escapes.
Remove the discharge cap after you are certain that pressure has been bled from it. You cannot tell by how
hard the cap rotates whether pressure exists or not.
5. Connect discharge hose to the discharge coupling.
Connect the discharge hose to the discharge connection.
6. Adjust discharge swivel.
If a discharge connection has a swivel fitting, move the swivel so the hose points AWAY from the pump
operator’s area.
7. Close drain/bleeder valve.
