Press the ON/OFF button 3 times within 2 seconds for switching off
the PIEPS BACKUP. The LED-indication will flash green and an acoustic
signal is emitted (prrrrie).

permanent acoustic signal (piiiiiiiiiiiep):
During power-on a permanent signal is emitted for one second
Warning signal (pi-pi-piep_pi-pi-piep_...):
Check 1 is not confirmed (no transmitting beacon nearby)
acoustic signal (piep_piep_piep_...):
In emergency-mode the
acoustic signal is emitted with the transmitter bit timing
acoustic signal (prrrrie):
During power-off an acoustic signal is
emitted for 3 seconds
Continuous green LED-signal during power-on:
BACKUP & battery are ok
Continuous red LED-signal during power-on:
BACKUP error
red blinking LED-signal during power-on:
Battery replacement
Green blinking LED-signal:
BACKUP is active
In check-mode the pIEpS BaCKUp is not transmitting but
„checking“ in the background.
Check 1 – Is there a transmitting beacon nearby?
Check 1 confirmed:
If a transmitting beacon is confirmed
nearby (min. 60 cm), the PIEPS BACKUP remains in check-
mode and the LED-indication continues flashing green.
Check 1 not confirmed:
If no transmitting beacon is confirmed
nearby, the PIEPS BACKUP starts to demand for an active
transmitter. The LED-indication is blinking green and a
permanent warning signal is emitted (pi-pi-piep_pi-pi-piep_...).
Check 2 – Is the pIEpS BaCKUp in motion?
Check 2 confirmed:
As long as the PIEPS BACKUP is in motion, the
PIEPS BACKUP remains in check-mode.
Check 2 not confirmed:
If the PIEPS BACKUP is not in motion, the
PIEPS BACKUP starts to transmit after 20 seconds (457 kHz). The
LED-indication and acoustic signal are emitted with the transmitter
bit timing of the PIEPS BACKUP.
The check-mode stops as soon as Check 1 (no transmitting beacon
nearby) and Check 2 (no motion) are not confirmed. The PIEPS
BACKUP switches into emergency-mode.
cHEck MODE
EMERGENcY-MODE
In emergency-mode the pIEpS BaCKUp starts to transmit with 457
kHz. With every transmitting signal an acoustic signal is emitted
(piep_piep_piep_...) and the LED-indication is blinking green.
If Check 2 is confirmed (PIEPS BACKUP in motion), the PIEPS BACKUP
switches back to check-mode. The Check 1 (transmitting beacon
nearby) is not active in emergency-mode. Therefore the PIEPS BACKUP
remains in send-mode, also if a new transmitting beacon is nearby.
