Press the ON/OFF button 3 times within 2 seconds for simple and
clear activation of the PIEPS BACKUP.
During power-on the PIEPS BACKUP will carry out a self-check where
the battery, antenna and sensor are tested. A permanent acoustic
signal (piiiiiiiiiiiep) is emitted for one second.

BaCKUp ok:
a continuous green LED-indication light will show
for 10 seconds, afterwards the LED-indication will blink green.
The PIEPS BACKUP is ok and guarantees a minimum activity of
10 hours in check-mode and 1 hour in emergency-mode.

BaCKUp error:
If a continuous red LED-indication light is
displayed, a device error has occurred. If the warning is still
shown in an interference-free area the PIEPS BACKUP is not
fully functional. Bring your PIEPS BACKUP to an
authorized service center.

Battery replacement:
If the LED-indication is blinking red,
check the battery (polarity and voltage) and
replace it if required.
IMpORTaNT!
During an extended period of non-use the battery
has to be taken out of the PIEPS BACKUP. Damages because of leaked
batteries are not included in the warranty.

Carry your PIEPS BACKUP using the
supplied carrying system on your belt
or hip belt. There is also the option to
carry the PIEPS BACKUP in a securely
closeable trouser pocket without a
protective case. It is important that the
PIEPS BACKUP is fixed in an appropriate
way so as to rule out losing the PIEPS
BACKUP.

The PIEPS
BACKUP is a mini-transmitter (Frequency 457 kHz) that is worn
directly on the body in conjunction with your beacon. The PIEPS
BACKUP only transmits in an emergency. Therefore PIEPS provides
the first 100% solution in case of a secondary avalanche.
The PIEPS BACKUP detects an emergency (= „no motion“ and „no
transmitting beacon nearby”): Only then will the PIEPS BACKUP start
to transmit!

every standard beacon!

The PIEPS BACKUP may only be used in combination
with an avalanche transceiver EN300718!
only if a rescuer wears an active transmitter, the rescuer is
perfectly equipped in case of a secondary avalanche.
