MPC-HSS

Descriptions

The MPC-HSS is a replacement unit for the MPC12R, a hot-swapable redundant power
supply is a highly compact series of 78 watt multiple output modules specifically
designed for mini-modulator application that require ultra-reliable DC input supply. This
series combines an advanced forward converter topology use of extensive surface mount
technology to achieve excellent power density. Sophisticated packaging and filtering
techniques are utilized thus minimizing the need for overall system filtering. The
MPC12R employs current sharing and redundant power supply design to equally share
loads between the supplies and minimize the potential for power bus glitches after a
power supply has failed, thereby improving the longevity of the power supply. Automated
manufacturing process and value engineering ensure an outstanding level of quality,
timely delivery and competitive cost. This type of power supply design eliminates down
time forever. Pico Macom, Inc. backs the product with a five-year limited warranty.

Replacement Single Power Supply Module

MPC-HSS

N+1 redundancy ensures the
power supply is configured for
dual supply operation, which
allows for hot insertion or
removal of the power supply
modules without powering down
the system

High efficiency >75% redundant
power supplies guarantees zero
down time

Home run DC cables allow removal
of individual modules without
disabling the entire system

High isolation ORing diodes (block-
ing diodes) provide short circuit
protection to the power supply by
preventing a failed supply from
causing a general system shut
down in a fault condition and also
preventing the output capacitors
of a hot inserted power supply
from draining power from the
power bus causing disturbance

Current sharing and redundant
design ensures increases in the
total amount of available load
current by providing de-ration for
the individual supplies thereby
improving their long-term reliability

Internal fusing circuitry provides
current overload protection and
precise volt-age regulation pre-
venting component damage

Status monitoring and control via
front panel LED display
