3
Lightly butter the sides of the bread that come into contact with the plates to obtain an
even, golden brown result.
◗
The sandwich maker is ready for use as soon as the heating-up light goes out (fig. 2).
4
Put two slices of bread with the buttered sides on the lower plate, spread the filling onto the
bread and put two other slices of bread on top, with the buttered sides pointing up (fig. 3).
You can also toast only one sandwich, if you wish.To ensure optimal sealing, fillings should not be
spread too close to the edges of the slices of bread.
5
Lower the upper plate carefully onto the bread until the auto-lock mechanism clamps it onto
the lower plate (fig. 4).
B
During the cooking process, the heating-up light goes on and goes out from time to time as an
indication that the heating elements are switched on and off to maintain the correct temperature.
6
Open the sandwich maker after 2-3 minutes and check whether the toasted sandwich is
golden brown.
The cooking time depends on the type of bread and the filling and on how crispy and brown you
want your toasted sandwiches to be.
7
Remove the sandwiches (fig. 5).
Use a wooden or plastic utensil (e.g. a spatula) to remove the toasted sandwiches from the
sandwich maker. Do not use metal, sharp or abrasive kitchen utensils.
8
Unplug the appliance after use.
Tips
Use your imagination to create delicious new fillings. Combine a basic ingredient such as meat, fish,
cheese, sausages or slices of hard-boiled eggs with fruits (e.g. avocado, banana, tangerine, apple and
pineapple) or with vegetables (e.g. tomato, cucumber, onions, mushrooms, peppers and gherkins).
You will discover that these combinations can be surprisingly tasty.
You can season the sandwiches to taste before cooking them with e.g. curry powder, paprika
powder, cayenne pepper, chives, parsley, mustard, tomato ketchup, sandwich spread, herb butter or
chutney.
Filling should not be put too close to the edges of the slices of bread. Never overfill a sandwich as
this could cause spillage and poor sealing.
To achieve a crispier result on both sides, you can put the sandwich on a metal rack (e.g. a cooling
rack) for half a minute.
Cleaning
Never immerse the appliance in water.
1
Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
2
Clean the plates with a damp cloth or sponge (fig. 6).
Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents and materials, as this will damage the non-stick
coating of the plates.
3
Clean the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth.

1
Wind the cord round the brackets on the bottom of the appliance (fig. 7).
2
