Q: W hen I ins tall my monitor what s hould I do if the s c reen
s hows 'C annot dis play this video mode'?
A: R ecommended video mode for P hilips 22": 1680x1050
@ 60Hz.
1. Unplug all cables , then connect your P C to the monitor that
you us ed previous ly.
2. In the W indows S tart Menu, s elect S ettings /C ontrol P anel. In
the C ontrol P anel W indow, s elect the Dis play icon. Ins ide the
Dis play C ontrol P anel, s elect the 'S ettings ' tab. Under the s etting
tab, in box labeled 'des ktop area', move the s lidebar to
1680x1050 pixels (22").
3. Open 'Advanced P roperties ' and s et the R efres h R ate to 60Hz,
then click OK .
4. R es tart your computer and repeat s tep 2 and 3 to verify that
your P C is s et at 1680x1050@ 60Hz (22").
5. S hut down your computer, dis connect your old monitor and
reconnect your P hilips LC D monitor.
6. Turn on your monitor and then turn on your P C .
Q: W hat does 'refres h rate' mean in c onnec tion with an L C D
monitor?
A: T he refres h rate is of much les s relevance for LC D monitors .
LC D monitors dis play a s table, flicker-free image at 60Hz. T here
is no vis ible difference between 85Hz and 60Hz.
Q: W hat are the .inf and .icm files on the C D-R OM? How do I
ins tall the drivers (.inf and .icm)?
A: T hes e are the driver files for your monitor. F ollow the
ins tructions in your us er manual to ins tall the drivers . Your
computer may as k you for monitor drivers (.inf and .icm files ) or a
driver dis k when you firs t ins tall your monitor. F ollow the
ins tructions to ins ert the ( companion C D-R OM) included in this
package. Monitor drivers (.inf and .icm files ) will be ins talled
automatically.
Q: How do I adjus t the res olution?
A: Your video card/graphic driver and monitor together determine
the available res olutions . You can s elect the des ired res olution
under W indows ® C ontrol P anel with the "Dis play properties ".
Q: W hat if I get los t when I am making monitor adjus tments ?
A: S imply pres s the OK button, then s elect 'R es et' to recall all of
the original factory s ettings .
Q: W hat is the Auto func tion?
A: T he AUT O adjus tment key res tores the optimal s creen
pos ition, phas e and clock s ettings by pres s ing of a s ingle
button – without the need to navigate through OS D (On S creen
Dis play) menus and control keys .
Note: Auto function is available in s elected models only.
Q: My Monitor has no power (P ower L E D does not light up).
W hat s hould I do?
A: Make s ure the AC power cord is connected between the
monitor and AC outlet, and click a key on keyboard/mous e to
wake up the P C .
Q: W ill the L C D monitor ac c ept an interlac ed s ignal under
P C models ?
A: No. If an Interlace s ignal is us ed, the s creen dis plays both odd
and even horizontal s canning lines at the s ame time, thus
dis torting the picture.
Q: W hat does the R efres h R ate mean for L C D?
A: Unlike C R T dis play technology, in which the s peed of the
electron beam is s wept from the top to the bottom of the s creen
determines flicker, an active matrix dis play us es an active
element (T F T ) to control each individual pixel and the refres h rate
is therefore not really applicable to LC D technology.
Q: W ill the L C D s c reen be res is tant to s c ratc hes ?
A: A protective coating is applied to the s urface of the LC D,
which is durable to a certain extent (approximately up to the
hardnes s of a 2H pencil). In general, it is recommended that the
panel s urface is not s ubject to any exces s ive s hocks or
s cratches .
Q: How s hould I c lean the L C D s urfac e?
A: F or normal cleaning, us e a clean, s oft cloth. F or extens ive
cleaning, pleas e us e is opropyl alcohol. Do not us e other s olvents
s uch as ethyl alcohol, ethanol, acetone, hexane, etc.
Q: C an I c hange the color s etting of my monitor?
A: Yes , you can change your color s etting through OS D control
as the following procedures ,
1. P res s "OK " to s how the OS D (On S creen Dis play) menu
2. P res s "Down Arrow" to s elect the option "C olor" then pres s
"OK " to enter color s etting, there are three s ettings as below.
a. C olor Temperature; T he s ix s ettings are 5000K , 6500K ,
7500K , 8200K , 9300K and 11500K . W ith s ettings in the 5000K
range the panel appears ‘warm,' with a red-white color tone,
while a 11500K temperature yields ‘cool, blue-white toning."
b. s R G B ; this is a s tandard s etting for ens uring correct exchange
of colors between different device (e.g. digital cameras , monitors ,
printers , s canners , etc)
c. Us er Define; the us er can choos e his /her preference color
s etting by adjus ting red, green blue color.
d. G amma; T he five s ettings are 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6.
*A meas urement of the color of light radiated by an object while it
is being heated. T his meas urement is expres s ed in terms of
abs olute s cale, (degrees K elvin). Lower K evin temperatures s uch
as 2004K are red; higher temperatures s uch as 9300K are blue.
Neutral temperature is white, at 6504K .
Q: C an the P hilips L C D Monitor be mounted on the wall?
A: Yes . P hilips LC D monitors have this optional feature. F or
s tandard V E S A mount holes on the rear cover allows the us er to
mount the P hilips monitor on mos t of the V E S A s tandard arms or
acces s ories . W e recommend to contact your P hilips s ales
repres entative for more information.

Q: W hen I ins tall my monitor, how do I get the bes t
performanc e from the monitor?
A: F or bes t performance, make s ure your dis play s ettings are s et
at 1680x1050@ 60Hz for 22". Note: You can check the current
dis play s ettings by pres s ing the OS D OK button once. T he
current dis play mode is s hown in OS D s etup information page
Q: How do L C Ds c ompare to C R Ts in terms of radiation?
A: B ecaus e LC Ds do not us e an electron gun, they do not
generate the s ame amount of radiation at the s creen s urface.
C ompatibility with other P eripherals
Q: C an I c onnec t my L C D monitor to any P C , works tation or
Mac?
A: Yes . All P hilips LC D monitors are fully compatible with
s tandard P C s , Macs and works tations . You may need a cable
adapter to connect the monitor to your Mac s ys tem. P leas e
contact your P hilips s ales repres entative for more information.
