Intended Use
Compass Power Mount Hardware is intended to attach compatible Comfort back supports to compatible power wheelchairs.
Compatible Comfort back supports are: ACTA-Relief, ACTA-BACK, ACTA-EMBRACE and Tru-Shape.
Compatibility:
The Compass Power Mount Hardware is NOT intended for use with other manufacturers’ back supports
or for attachment to wheelchairs other than those specified in this manual.
The medical products featured in this document are intended to be only one part of an overall care regimen that includes all seating
and mobility equipment and therapeutic interventions. A clinician who is experienced in seating and positioning should identify this
care regimen after evaluating the individual’s physical needs and overall medical condition.
A clinician who is experienced in seating and positioning should determine whether the product is appropriate for the individual’s
particular seating needs. The product’s intended use statement alone should not be relied upon to make that determination.

This product is designed for the intended user and
intended use only. Any modifications could potentially
endanger the user and cause discomfort or damage.

Ensure that the product does not interfere with any
other wheelchair components. Interference could
jeopardize effectiveness and user safety as well as cause
damage.

DO NOT modify this product. Doing so will void its
warranty and may lead to personal injury or alter the
effectiveness of the product by increasing the risk
factors for skin breakdown and/or instability.

Follow all instructions and safety information provided
with the product and provided by the manufacturer of
your wheelchair or other accessories.

Understanding how to care for your product is the key
to safe and proper use. Share this information with all
caretakers to help them meet your healthcare needs
and ensure your safety.

Installing alternate parts to your wheelchair may change
the intended structure and function of the equipment.
Be sure to assess the need for additional safety features
for your wheelchair, such as anti-tip bars or other
available options in order to maintain stability during
use. Use this manual in conjunction with the user
manual that came with your wheelchair to ensure safety
guidelines are being met.

It is necessary to fully articulate power recline features
to ensure there is no possible equipment interference
after installation. Do so slowly while watching closely.

Never use the equipment to maneuver a wheelchair or
anything that it is attached to. It is never to be used as
a handle, lift, guide, or support for anything other than
the intended use.
WARNINGS:

Never use the equipment unless all components are
fully functional. For information on assistance with any
issues, refer to the “Warranty” section in this manual.

To prevent injury, damages, or voided warranty DO NOT
make any alterations to the equipment. Modifications in
attempt to interface with any other products than those
listed in this manual potentially compromise the safety
of the user and voids the warranty.

When possible, DO NOT use during transport. Repeated
or excessive force (braking or crash) could potentially
change adjustment or cause extra wear, shortening the
life of the product. DO NOT use the equipment if it has
been in a crash.

Caregivers: It is necessary to learn from a healthcare
provider how to properly adjust the equipment for the
user’s specific positioning needs and goals.

DO NOT place anything in between the user and
the product. Additional materials may reduce the
effectiveness of the product and increase risk factors for
skin breakdown and instability.

ATTENTION! Make sure that the equipment is securely
mounted to a wheelchair system and is adjusted
properly each time it is in use. Check all hardware for
wear, breakage, and tightness weekly. Re-tighten loose
screws/bolts following the instructions in this manual.
DO NOT continue to use the equipment if any part
cannot be tightened or is broken.

IMPORTANT! TIGHTEN SECURELY BEFORE USE: For
all instructions in this manual, all fasteners should be
tightened securely, as instructed. If a torque wrench is
available, tighten to 9.6 Nm (85 lb-in).
CAUTIONS:

Check packaging and inspect all parts for damage
before use. DO NOT USE if damaged. Check regularly
for loose components and tighten as necessary. For
information on assistance with damaged parts, refer to
the “Warranty” section in this manual.
