Section F: LED Summary

F: LED S
UMMARY
The Model 225 has dual-channel front panel indicators with three LED status
displays for each active channel (2 green, 1 red per channel). These indicators are
arranged horizontally on the front of the cooler on their respective channel sides.
READY (green) LED On = Ready point temperature is reached 10
°
C (50
°
F)
OPERATING (green) LED On = Peltiers are active
TC FAILURE (red) LED On = Thermocouple or electronic failure alarm
The combination of the READY and OPERATING green LED's indicate the sample
cooler is operating in a safe, dry condition. Upon immediate power on, the
OPERATING green LED’s will light, indicating that the peltiers are active. The
READY green LED’s will not light until the heat exchanger temperature has fallen
below 10
°
C.
When all Green LED's are lit, the Model 225 is operating properly in normal, dry
condition, and the effluent sample gas is being dried to the operating set point of
5
°
C, producing a stable, repeatable dewpoint. If either Green LED fails to light, it can
indicate various problems. The most obvious is overload. Check the incoming
sample gas temperature, moisture content, and flowrate through the heat
exchangers to be sure all conditions are within published specifications. Overload
requires more cooling power from the Model 225 than is available (max. is 112
Btu/Hr) (118 kJ/Hr). If all conditions are correct, then the problem may be an
electrical malfunction, which can be traced using the trouble shooting guidelines in
Section J of this manual.
The very design of the Model 225 is such that overload will not cause damage to the
unit. Sample gas of a higher dew point is the result of overload. The flow
performance curves in the Appendix of this manual illustrate the relationship of
sample inlet temperature, flow rate, and the resulting sample effluent dew point.
Overloading the cooler forces this dew point curve higher.
An optional Water Slip Alarm circuit board and water slip sensor are available to
provide a relay (SPDT) contact for remote alarm sensing. This contact closure can
be used to stop and start a sample pump, alarm annunciator, or computer
malfunction alarm input.
