1.4 Putting in service
Nobody should stand in between the tractor and the machine when you change the machine from
central mount- to offset-position
.
1.4.1 Fitting to the tractor
The machine is suitable for every standard 3-point linkage Kat. I or II and is coupled to the tractor with stepped pins. Do
not forget to securer these pins with the also supplied springlocks.
•
3-point model
:
When the tractor and the machine are standing on a flat surface the
machine-sided pin of the top link should be adjusted just in the middle of
the corresponding slot hole of the 3-point bow. Doing so the machine, at the
front side lifted by the tractor 3-point, can follows the contours of an
uneven field freely, this gives a nice equal cut and the machine will not be
overloaded.
•
Front model
:
On the front mounted flail chopper the machine-sided top link pin has always to be fitted in the round hole of
the 3-point bow. When the tractor and the machine are standing on a flat surface the tipping possibility between
supporting frame and main body should be in the middle position of its stroke. Further on the top link should be
as parallel as possible with the lower links. Doing so the flail chopper will be lifted at the front-side while it is
also resting on the rear roller. Now the machine will be able to follow the contours of an uneven field freely
which gives a nice and equal cut and the machine will not be overloaded.
If you would like to block the "tipping" possibility between the main body and the supporting frame you have
to turn the "blocking" plate 180º.
1.4.2 Road transport
During road transport, the flail mower must be positioned in the middle of the tractor through the hydraulic offset
which is optional possible.
During road-transport the machine is carried by the tractor 3-point linkage. It is not allowed to carry
the machine in offset position during road-transport!
1.4.3 Cutting height
The cutting height can, if necessary, be adjusted as follows:
By re-setting the upper fixing bolts in one of the other adjusting holes of the
frame and / or adjusting plate. The highest hole in the frame will give you the
lowest cut ± 25 mm (1") and the lowest hole in the frame the highest cut ± 100
mm (4").
The machine front-side should always be carried by the tractor 3-point linkage
(on the front model by the supporting bracket).
1.4.4 P.T.O. shaft
The P.T.O. shaft supplied with the machine has a retracted length of 920 mm (± 3') for 3-point mounted models and 1050
mm (3'5") for the front mounted models.
This length is correct for most of the popular tractor sizes. However it is strongly recommended to check the proper
length of the P.T.O. shaft before operating the machine, and if necessary to shorten it according to the instructions
attached to the P.T.O. shaft. Check the proper length as well in transport- as in work positions!
Check the length of the overlap of the protection elements; this should be at least 50 mm (2”).
The guard tube of the P.T.O. shaft must be secured against rotation by the little chains.
