Important environmental information about this product
This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its lifecycle could
harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be
taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device should be returned to your distributor or to a
local recycling service. Respect the local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.
Thank you for choosing Perel! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If the device
was damaged in transit, don't install or use it and contact your dealer.
Scientific research has found that mosquitoes find their prey using a combination of sensory cues including heat,
carbon dioxide (CO
2
) and moisture. Traditional mosquito traps use propane gas to create CO
2
and heat, attracting
mosquitoes. Once consumed, the propane gas needs to be replaced. The GMK2, however, uses photocatalytic
reaction between near-ultraviolet rays and a titanium dioxide (TiO
2
) coated panel to create light, heat and CO
2
instead. This mimics the human body and attracts mosquitoes into the trap.
Titanium dioxide (TiO
2
)
Photocatalysis is a catalytic reaction formed when TiO
2
is irradiated by near-ultraviolet rays from the sun or a light
source. In the presence of near-ultraviolet light, titanium dioxide (TiO
2
) breaks down organic matter in the form of
airborne micro-organisms (such as airborne bacteria, mold, viruses, fungi, smoke and household odours) into
carbon dioxide (CO
2
) and water (H
2
O).
How does it work?
The GMK2 mimics the human body by producing heat, CO
2
and water. The high-speed rotating fans then draw in
the mosquitoes through the capture window and against the capture net until their death from dehydration.
Air purifier
The GMK2 doubles as an air purifier as it breaks down airborne bacteria, viruses, fungi, smoke and household
odours drawn into the TiO
2
-coated panel inside the trap. The photocatalytic reaction attacks and destroys microbes
by disintegrating their DNA. The reaction also kills dust mites.
