Preparations
To avoid pressure differences, the liquid levels in both tubes must be made equal using
the levelling barrel before taking the measurement.
The following must be carried out before the ICC-2000 can be used together with the IAM:
Method:
1. Close the needle valve (pos. 13),
2. Connect the IAM’s hose (pos. 106) to the hose socket (pos. 57) on the ICC-2000.
3. Close the IAM’s sealing tap (pos. 112),
4. Fill the leveller barrel (pos. 103) almost to the top with lye,
5. Open the IAM’s sealing tap so that the IAM is filled,
6. Slide the leveller barrel upwards (13 cm above the IAM).
7. Add a small amount of lye to the leveller barrel so that it is 1/3 full (the level in the IAM is
approximately 3 cm above the sealing tap).
8. Close the sealing tap and lower and leveller barrel until it is on top of the bracket (pos.
101).
Position numbers in Appendix IV Drawings.
There will now still be air in the hose between the IAM and the ICC-2000:
This can be removed in three ways:
Open the ICC-2000’s needle valve slowly until a drop of lye comes out of the needle.
This will happen more quickly if the IAM is placed slightly higher than ICC-2000. Close
the needle valve if all the air has been removed from the hose. Remove the drop of lye
before starting the measurement.
Pierce a bottle or can that does not need to be measured but can be used for testing.
Shake to equilibrium and allow gas to escape from the can or bottle as small bubbles by
opening the needle valve. Close the needle valve and wait until the lye has absorbed
the CO
2
in the hose, i.e., until the hose between the ICC-2000 and the IAM is
completely filled with lye. Shaking the hose will speed this up.
Remove the rubber cone from the ICC-2000. Connect a hose containing CO
2
(0.5 bar
maximum) to the ICC-2000’s needle. The hose may be warmed for ease of assembly.
Open the needle valve slowly and expel the air from the hose using the CO
2
. Close the
needle valve, remove the hose and assemble the pushbutton with the rubber cone.
A non-return valve may be placed in the hose between the ICC-2000 and the IAM.
The IAM is now filled with lye, without air, and is ready to be used for measurements.
