PELTOR COMTAC

Peltor ComTac is specially designed to fit comfortably under a military helmet (Swedish model
M90) and to effectively protect against harmful noise levels while the user operates various
weapons. The standard Peltor ComTac is equipped with an audio input for an external radio
and an active-volume function that amplifies soft sounds and attenuates loud ones. The
systems for external communication and the active-volume function work independently,
providing extra high reliability and increased safety. The Peltor ComTac is tested and approved
according to PPE directive 89/686/EEC and EMC directive 89/336/EEC, which means that it
meets the demands for CE marking.

Read this user’s guide carefully to get the most benefit from your new Peltor product.

FUNCTIONS

• The last setting is stored when switched off.
• Automatic shutoff after two hours if no functions are activated. Two audio signals indicate

that the protector will switch off in one minute if no function is activated.

• The battery lifetime is about 250 hours. When the battery is low, you hear three warning

signals every 30 seconds for five minutes, then the unit switches off.

• Polarity protectors guard the circuitry if the batteries are inserted incorrectly.
• Equipped with an audio input through a jack in the casing to allow connection to an

external radio. External signals can be heard without battery power and even when the
Peltor ComTac is switched off.

• When the active-volume function is on, amplification is reduced when an external telephone

signal comes in through the audio input.

IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION

The Peltor ComTac must be turned on, adjusted, cleaned and maintained according to the
instructions in the user’s guide.

• This product can be harmed by certain chemical substances. Contact the manufacturer for

more information.

• It is time to change batteries when you hear the warning signal described above, when

distortion increases or when the sound becomes too weak. Never replace or insert batteries
with the power on. Make sure that the battery is inserted correctly before use. See the dia-
gram in the Care section.

• Never store the hearing protector with batteries installed.

Note:

If these recommendations are not followed, attenuation and other functions may be

diminished.

Use the ambient-noise amplification feature sparingly!

When you amplify sounds above “normal hearing“ for extended periods, particularly in a
noisy environment, you may experience discomfort. This can cause you to want to loosen the
unit, which can lead to permanent hearing loss.

IMPORTANT!

For the best protection, move hair away from the ears so that the

sealing rings fit snugly against the head. Eyeglass frames should be as thin as
possible and fit close to the head.
