CALIBRATION CHECKLIST
– Dry Gas
1. Preliminary
2. Zero Check (Air Blank)
3. Select Mode (Active or Passive)
4. Sample the Dry Gas Standard
5. Adjust the Display to the Value of the Dry Gas Standard
6. Reset & Wait
Please review and understand the WET BATH CALIBRATION PROCEDURE IN THE
INSTRUCTION MANUAL ON PAGES 24-28 before working with the DRY GAS calibration
procedure.
PAS VR. ‘DRY GAS’ CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
:
The calibration adjustment process assumes the following conditions:
*The instrument has not analyzed more than three samples containing alcohol within the
previous half-hour or any sample within the previous 5 minutes.
•
The instrument is in its normal operating temperature range, and
•
The battery does not need replacement.
EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST FOR DRY GAS CALIBRATION OR ACCURACY CHECK
:
1. Regulator: 1.5 LPM. A Trigger (see photos below) or Push Button type.
2. Ethanol Breath Dry Gas Standard
– 0.01%.*
3. Calibration Connector Tube

Inspect the instrument for damage and that the intake port is not blocked/plugged.
Select the appropriate “Calibration Connector Tube” for the Dry Gas procedure.
Dry Gas Standard: 0.01% (used for either PASSIVE or ACTIVE modality calibration)
2) Zero Check (Air Blank)
This insures the instrument is ready to take a sample of the dry gas standard and tests
whether the fuel cell is completely discharged and free of alcohol from a previous sample. It also
insures the battery has sufficient power to drive the electronic circuitry.
Switch the POWER on. Set mode switch to PASSIVE. Wait a minimum of 1-2 minutes for
initialization process to complete.
