If you don’t lower the pool water level to winterize:
1. Remove the return guard, weir

door, debris basket, venturi
nozzle, and ozone delivery tube
if so equipped. Store items in a
safe place.

2. If so equipped, disconnect

the ozone tubing from the
standpipe at the equipment
pad and blow the ozone line to
the skimmer. Plug the hole in
the skimmer with ¼” NPT plug.

3. Select correct size plug for line

to be winterized. Available 1½”
or 2”.

4. The plug includes an o-ring seal

and is wrapped with Teflon
tape for ease of assembly and
removal, thread into socket
hand tight then use a wrench to
tighten ½ to 1 additional turn.

5. The cap, washer and foam

may be removed to use a
plug wrench like Paramount
#004252547600.

6. After the plug is tightened

remove the cap and blow the line from the other end.

7. Pour some antifreeze down the pipe and into the skimmer for added freeze protection.
8. Slide foam, washer and cap on freeze stack to seal. DO NOT GLUE the cap to the stack.
9. The 1½” version includes a length of foam to be used in the return pipe of a venturi skimmer.
10.  The center pipe and foam of the freeze stack may be cut if it is too tall to put the deck access

cover back on.

11.  Cover the skimmer to prevent rainwater or snow accumulation.

Additional methods may also be required. Refer to the ParaskimV
manual. There are many methods to winterizing a pool and pool
equipment. Different methods are used depending on regional

conditions. It is the pool operator’s responsibility to ensure all components of the pool and pool
equipment are protected from the most severe freeze conditions in their specific area.

NOTICE

If you lower the pool water level below the skimmer to winterize:
1. Lower the pool water level below the skimmer opening.
2. Remove the return guard, weir door, debris basket, venturi nozzle, and ozone delivery tube if so

equipped. Store items in a safe place.

3. OPTIONAL: On the pool side of the venturi discharge install the optional Paramount O-ring plug

(004-702-9970-00) into the fitting. Alternately you may use a 2 ¾” rubber plug.

4. Vacuum all water from the skimmer.
5. Disconnect the ozone tubing from the standpipe at the equipment pad and blow the ozone line to

the skimmer. Plug the hole in the skimmer with ¼” NPT plug.

6. Select correct size plug for line to be winterized. Available 1½” or 2”.
7. The plug includes an o-ring seal and is wrapped with Teflon tape for ease of assembly and removal,

thread into socket hand tight then use a wrench to tighten ½ to 1 additional turn.

8. The cap, washer and foam may be removed to use a plug wrench like Paramount #004252547600.
9. After the plug is tightened remove the cap and blow the line from the other end.
10.  Vacuum all water from the skimmer.
