Government Requirements

Certain governments require that instructions pertaining to connection to the telephone
network be included in the installation and operation manual. Specific instructions are
listed in the following sections.

Note that 3810Plus and 3811Plus are the model names for the model numbers 3980
and 3981, respectively. The modems collectively are called 3800Plus modems.

United States – Notice to Users of the Telephone Network

1. This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules. On the equipment is a label

that contains, among other information, the FCC registration number and ringer
equivalence number (REN) for this equipment. The label is located on the bottom
of the Model 3810Plus modem and on the circuit card assembly of the Model
3811Plus. If requested, this information must be provided to the telephone
company.

2. For the standalone modems, the Universal Service Order Code (USOC) for

Permissive mode is RJ11C; the Canadian equivalent is CA11. For the
carrier-mounted modem, the USOC for Permissive mode is RJ21X (Canadian
CA21A).
