SURROUND/REAR SPEAKERS
Cinema
™
surround/rear speakers vary by system. They may be direct radiating (like the front speakers) or Adapted
Dipole (ADP
™
) surrounds/rears
(model name will include ”ADP”)
.
Direct-Radiating Surround Speakers
should be kept well away from the listening area for optimal surround-
sound performance.
ADP
™
Surround Speakers
are designed to be used with their drivers firing toward the front and back walls
to ensure a large reverberant soundfield.
ADP
™
Rear Speakers
should be positioned with drivers firing toward the side walls and each other ensuring
a large reverberant soundfield in the rear.
Surround/rear speakers may be wall mounted
(refer to the section on Wall Mounting later in this manual)
,
on PARADIGM
®
speaker stands, or placed on shelves or high furniture (i.e. bookshelves). If placing ADP’s on
shelves or high furniture, make sure there is at least 18 inch (45 cm) of free space on either side of the speaker.
If mounting in a corner, see your Dealer for more information.
A NOTE ABOUT THE SUBWOOFER:
In the speaker configurations that follow, the “.1” represents the low-
frequency effects channel handled by the subwoofer. All home theater requires the use of a subwoofer(s)
to provide deep bass, giving dynamic power to low-frequency effects in movies and low bass content in
music. For more information on Paradigm’s award-winning subwoofers, see your Dealer or visit our website
