HE SECONDS RESET DEVICE
The small continuous seconds dial

is located at 9 o’clock. When the
winding crown

is unscrewed and pulled out to the second click

the small seconds hand immediately returns to zero. The seconds reset
device provides an extremely precise way of synchronising the watch with the
time source used as a reference.
Note: At the moment that the seconds reset device comes into operation, the
seconds hand is zeroed and the balance is stopped. If the crown should
inadvertently be pulled out to
position 2
for a long time, the precise setting of
the time must be carried out again.

ETTING THE DATE
The Panerai Radiomir 10 Days GMT watch has a gradual date change
mechanism, a process which takes about 3 hours to complete: from 10 p.m.
to 1.00 a.m., with a margin of ± 30 minutes. This particular method of changing
the date is inspired by the mechanical tradition of Swiss watchmaking and it
allows the date to be changed in both directions, moving it either forwards or
backwards. To set the date indicated, proceed as follows:
1. Unscrew the winding crown

, pull it out to the first click

and
turn it clockwise or anti-clockwise until the correct date appears in the little
date window located at 3 o’clock. If the date changes when the hour hand

goes past 12, then 12 represents midnight, while if it does not do so, the
12 represents midday.

HE
GMT
FUNCTION
The GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) system, adopted throughout the world,
divides the terrestrial globe into 24 time zones, each one equivalent to 15° of
longitude. The Greenwich meridian was taken as the fundamental reference
meridian for the localisation of time zones after the international conferences
held in Rome in 1883 and in Washington in 1884. Starting from the zero
meridian, known as the Greenwich or prime meridian, 24 time zones have
been fixed, from 0 to +12 towards the east, and from 0 to -12 towards the
west. The Greenwich meridian used to play a fundamental role in navigation:
the time at Greenwich was the reference time for the calculations which
enabled a ship’s longitude to be determined, thus establishing its exact
location. The GMT function of the Panerai Radiomir 10 Days GMT watch
enables the wearer to read the local time and the time in another country
(home time) simultaneously.

ETTING THE SECOND TIME ZONE
1. Unscrew the winding crown

indicate the local time, that is the time where the watch is being worn.
3. At this point, the hand of the second time zone

will indicate the home
time, that is, the time in the country of departure. This hand moves at the
same rate as the local time hour hand

12 hours. At the 9 o’clock position, on the small seconds dial, a further

displays the GMT time divided into 24 hours, to avoid possible
confusion between morning and afternoon.
