1. OPERATING REQUIREMENTS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This device is only suitable for hot water preparation within closed spaces, and may only be installed by licensed professionals
(with due consideration to the relevant professional standards, e.g. ÖNORM B2531; ÖNORM EN 806).
The storage tank must be used exclusively in accordance with the conditions set out on the rating plate if the medium used
is to comply with the European Drinking Water Ordinance. Furthermore, a minimum conductivity of
≥
150 μS/cm must be
available in order to ensure appropriate corrosion protection.
In addition to the legally recognised national guidelines and standards (Austria: ÖVE, ÖNORM, etc.), the connection conditions
of the local electricity and water works as well as those set out in the operating and installation instructions must be complied
with. Hot water preparation must be done in compliance with the applicable standards (e.g. ÖNORM H 5195). The heating
water must have a pH value between 8 and 9.5.
The area in which the device is operated must be frost-free. Installation of the device must be carried out in a place where
one might reasonably expect it to be, i.e. the device must be easily accessible in case of servicing, repairs or in case it needs
to be replaced. The costs for any necessary changes to the structural conditions (e.g. doors and corridors too narrow) are
not covered by the guarantee and warranty offered and shall, therefore, be refused by the PM. This means that all structural
provisions that impede problem-free work must be eliminated by the end customer. If setting up, installing and operating the
water heater in unusual places (lofts, living quarters with water sensitive flooring, store rooms, etc.) potential water leakage
must be taken into consideration and, therefore, a device for capturing and draining off any leaked water must be provided
in order to prevent secondary damage. The device may only be installed and operated in the proper configuration on a
horizontal surface suitable to support the weight of the full water heater. In the case of extremely hard water, we recommend
the upstream installation of a commercially available de-calcification device and a maximum operating temperature of about
65°C.
For proper operation of the hot water tank, the drinking water quality must comply with the national regulations and laws
(Drinking Water Ordinance).
All the limit values contained therein for various ingredients (e.g. nitrate < 50 mg/l, nitrite < 0.1mg/l, chloride < 200 mg/l, iron
< 0.2 mg/l, sulphate < 250 mg/l, pH-value ≥ 6.5 and ≤ 9.5, conductivity at least 150 μS/cm) must be strictly observed. The
water may only be decalcified to a maximum of 8°dH.
The connection thread for cold water is designed as a G-thread according to ÖNORM ISO 228 "flat sealing". With other sealing
aids, e.g. hemp or Teflon tape, care must be taken that the corrosion protection layer (enamel) is not damaged by excessive
sealing inside the connection pipe. Furthermore, the galvanic voltage series must be taken into account to prevent contact
corrosion between the storage tank connection and the connecting piece.
To protect the sealing surfaces of the connection threads from corrosion, they are wetted with an oxidation enamel or
paint protective layer. For this reason, when the domestic hot water tank is connected with a flat seal, the front side of the
connection thread must be cleaned with a wire brush or sandpaper prior to installation to achieve a clean, adequate sealing
surface.
2. DOMESTIC HOT WATER SIDE CONNECTION (PRESSURE RESISTANT)
All water heaters that have the designation of nominal pressure greater than 0 bar (atmospheric pressure) on their rating
plate are pressure-resistant storage tanks and can be loaded with the maximum operating pressure indicated on the rating
plate.
If the line pressure is higher, then a pressure reduction valve must be installed in the cold water input pipe, which must be
installed on site and be coordinated with the safety valve.
In cases in which unsuitable or non-functional storage tank connection fittings are used, as well as in cases in which the
stated operating pressure is exceeded, any guarantee, warranty and product liability for the water heater will be refused. That
is why only pressure resistant fittings are to be used. Type-tested safety equipment is to be provided in the cold water pipe
according to the connection diagram shown below. It is imperative that a type-examination tested safety group according
to DIN 1988 or ÖNORM B2531 is installed for closed water heaters in the water connection of the cold water pipe (cold water
inlet).
