ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
The most probable cause of a system malfunction is due to improper electrical wiring.
The following electrical requirements MUST be met before the installation to prevent
problems.
*
The complete system, including touch screen terminals, video monitors, printers,
kitchen video controller and the back office computer MUST be on a single
DEDICATED circuit originating at the main breaker.
*
The dedicated circuit must be 120V, 60 Hz, 15 amps, 3 wire (including ground).
*
The ground wire must connect to a primary isolated ground, NOT to a conduit or
gas pipe.
AC WIRING (TO BE COMPLETED BE THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR)
1)
All components in the POS system are to be connected to a dedicated AC line.
2)
There should only be one AC line originating at the main panel for the store.
3)
A 15 AMP breaker is sufficient.
4)
The AC line must have an isolated ground and utilize HUBBEL IG5262 – DUPLEX
ORANGE receptacles.
5)
AC wire must be run in conduit that contains 3 wires HOT – NEUTRAL – GROUND.
6)
No other wiring for other conduits can be run in this conduit.
7)
You may use BX instead of conduit.
8)
Voltage provided in 117.5 VAC (+/- 15%).
9)
Ground wires must be INSULATED.
10)
An ISOLATED ground wire is required and should be run from the receptacles to
the main building ground.
11)
You may also run the ground to a water pipe AS WELL AS the main ground.
An orange duplex, 3 wire, grounded receptacle must be installed at the following
locations:
Every touch screen terminal site including the drive-thru and kiosk
(maximum 3 feet from the device)
The main network rack, patch panel/switch. This is located above the
manager’s desk cupboard between the top of the cupboard and ceiling
tile or on the top shelf inside the cupboard if there is no space on top.
The front line expeditor monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The grill monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The fryer monitor (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The prep monitor if applicable (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
The drive-thru monitor if applicable (maximum 2 ½’ from the monitor)
