This
normally
should
be
placed
closed
to
À
ow. If
the pawl is moved opens an air
À
ow which invests
the surface of the ceramic glass, making cleaning
easier.
To make a complete cleaning of the glass is
necessary to wait shut-down and cooling the wood
insert and make the cold cleaning.
Is carried out with a damp cloth or with the
newspaper, moistened and passed in the ashes,
rubbing the glass until clean (Fig. 7.6).
Sometimes this procedure may not be enough: you
can use then the use of special detergents, careful
to spray the product on a dry cloth and not directly
on the wood insert glass or painted parts of the
surrounding.
In normal conditions the glass tends to darken
during ignition and to lighten during operation.
The ceramic glass great resistance to high
temperatures, but it is fragile, so DO NOT HIT.

CLEANING THE FLUE
In normal operating conditions, the
À
ue should be cleaned
every 40 quintals of wood burnt or at least every two
years, unless regulated differently.
At any rate, clean at least once a year. When cleaning
we suggest removing the smoke diaphragm from the
smoke outlet to enable the soot to fall, to be replaced
once cleaned. (See Chapter 7.6)
Warning! If the diaphragm is not put back there would
be a strong depression (forge effect)and the wood would
burn too quickly and irregularly.
8.5.1 POOR SMOKE DRAUGHT
If this occurs the
¿
rst times you light the wood insert,
check that the
À
ue is not clogged with masonry debris,
birds’ nests or anything else in the chimney top.
Furthermore, the
À
ue should be connected according
to the instructions, without any chokes and with the
À
ue
¿
ttings hermetically sealed. If this problem occurs after
a period of normal operation check and clean the
À
ue.
