Maintenance and storage
-
Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the equipment is in safe operating
condition.
-
Check the guard regularly for wear or damage.
-
Replace worn or damaged parts.
-
Use only the correct type of cutting units.
-
Never store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside a building where fumes can
reach an open flame or sparks.
-
Allow the engine to cool down before storing it in an enclosed space.
-
To reduce the fire hazard, keep the engine, silencer and fuel storage area free of grass,
leaves, or grease.
-
If you need to drain the fuel tank, do this outdoors.
Special safety warnings
1.
Keep a secure hold of the brushcutter's handles with both hands.
2.
Always maintain a stable, controlled posture and firm footing.
3.
Keep the engine speed at the level required to perform the cutting task and never
increase the engine speed above the required level.
4.
If the grass gets caught in the blade during operation, or if there is a need to service or
refuel the equipment, always make sure to switch off the engine.
5.
If the blade hits a hard object such as a stone, stop the engine immediately and check
for damage. If this is the case, the blade must be replaced.
6.
Always stay fully focused on the task at hand and make sure to switch off the engine
before moving your attention from the machine to something else.
7.
Never touch the spark plug or spark plug lead while the engine is
running. This may result in electric shock.
8.
Never touch the silencer, spark plug or other metal parts of the engine
while the engine is running or immediately after the engine has been
switched off. This can result in serious burns.
9.
When you have finished clearing one area and want to continue
working somewhere else, switch off the engine and turn the machine
so that the blade faces away from the body.
